How Give Your Scrapbook That Summer Feel - Part 2

Previously we looked at the effect of colours and objects in setting the tone for your album. Now we will look at what extra bits you can add to your scrapbook to enhance that ’summer feel’.

Nature

There are two things that become very common in summer. Flowers and insects.

Summer just wouldn’t be the same if we didn’t see these two things everywhere. For inspiration just cast your eyes to the garden. You will find a bounty of bees, butterflies and grasshoppers, all leading their busy tiny lives.

Naturally these lives would be much tougher if there weren’t any flowers around. Roses, Begonias and Lilies - all of these and a lot more come to flower in the summer months and can be discovered in any botanical garden.

The great part about these insects and flowers is there are such a lot of disparate approaches you can take with them.

Need a light hearted and fun feel to your pages? Go with some cartoony and lovable versions of the insects and flowers. It will add a large amount of personality to your pages.

If you’re looking out for a more serious tone or need to add some refinement to your pages, you can add images or life like sketches of the flowers and insects.

Or better yet , collect some flowers from your garden in the summertime months and press and dry them. Then you could use some authentic bits of summer in your next album. This is also a great way to get some cheap scrapbooking supplies.

Pearl Pens

These pens are a welcome addition to any scrappers toolkit. They’re the dimensions of the fat permanent markers and hold about 25 milliliters, which is going to last a long while - even with consistent use.

The reason why they are called pearl pens is that they are filled with a pearlescent liquid which when squeezed out on the page look similar to the pearls in oysters.

They come in an entire range of colours, so I’d suggest to get some in the warm summer tones.

These are ideal for adding some life into any blank or solid colour areas. They can be made to seem like little insects flying about or mimic the spores from a dandelion in the wind.

So brighten up any lifeless areas with some cute dots from a pearl pen. You may also find you use these in a large amount of other scrap-booking projects.
