What Are The Three Basic Rules For Getting Cheap Scrapbooking Supplies?
Getting cheap scrapbooking supplies might seem like a tough job. The great news is that it doesn’t have to be. All you’ve got to do is follow three rules:
Never Pay for an Idea
If you’re into scrapbooking, chances are you’re the creative type. I have known some people to find it far easier to buy layouts, stencils and general theme ideas. Some have gone as far as buying books with ready printed and arranged backgrounds.
Even if you are in the middle of a ‘creativity crisis ‘ you should not resort to purchasing ideas. If you are truly stuck, then use your time trying to find inspiration. Look through your old albums, a design brochure or some websites. You’ll be amazed at the places you’ll be able to find good ideas.
Only Buy Material if it Cannot Be Made or Salvaged
A few individuals do not want to put any effort into their scrapbooks. They are quite happy to go out and buy packets of pre-cut shapes, stickers and even pre-tied ribbons!
There’s little wrong with using spare and excess materials in your scrapbook. It does not take away from the effect or look worse. Using pre-cut and prepared materials also defeats the point of putting a scrapbook together.
You may also notice that you can save a large amount of money if you use punches and stencils to make a lot of your shapes and decorations. These can be uses again and again to good effect.
Scrapbooking is a labour of love. Without the labour, it loses its personal touch and the feeling of accomplishment that comes with honest work.
Be Part of a Scrapbooking Community
Whether its a local club, a group of friends or even a scrapbooking forum on the web, it will serve you well to join a scrapbooking community.
These groups are have wealth of knowledge and love to share concepts, give advice and generally help out with any person coming up against issues with their scrapbooks.
They also are a lifesaver if you are having a ‘creativity crisis’.
Many groups also are happy to share materials or give away any excess materials they can’t find a use for in their scrapbooks. On top of this, they’re always happy to tell other members whenever they find cheap scrapbooking supplies as well!
If you follow the three rules above, you will find it really easy to save cash when putting together an album.
