Did You Know Even Model Cars Have Garages?

The first thing that comes to mind after reading about a model car garage is to wonder if these little cars require a garage. Well, one must ask this question of model car owners and collectors. For them, their model cars are as important as any other precious thing and so yes, a model car garage is of utmost importance for them. Being small in size, the model car garage naturally is a miniature version of the actual car garage just like the model cars are.

Building Of A Model Car Garage
Apart from building this miniature garage, maintaining it with intricate details and parts of all types of model cars is, in itself, a hectic job. Small pulleys, disc brakes, and fan belts are all part and parcel of a model car garage. It seems like a child’s dream. However, this dream came true in Florida. A man named Robert Korunow of Port Saint Lucie has built a model car garage and is maintaining and running it successfully. He quit his day job to devote time to his garage.

In the early ‘90s, Bob started work on Plymouth Satellite. This was a muscle car he fancied in his youth. He took nearly a year and a half to complete the car’s model. However, while working on building this model car, Bob had a hard time finding intricate parts. These details simply did not exist and thus they had to be machined or fabricated from scratch. For example, the pulley was made from a small lathe that Bob purchased to manage the engine. Thus, the model car garage came into being.

Bob’s Progress
Getting to know about Bob’s progress, his friends and acquaintances came flooding with requests in relation to their particular model cars. Soon Bob grew busy manufacturing and collecting trim pieces, steering columns, fan belts, and disc brakes. Bob’s business soon grew with word-of-mouth publicity, and he had to quit his day job to pursue his dream of maintaining model cars. His venture earned him a favorable reputation and also various awards.

Awards And Recognition
Bob’s satellite earned the Best Street Machine Award and the Best Paint Job Award. All this took place in 1993 during the Great Salt Lake Model Car Championship. Even the Model Car Garage gained favorable feedback at this championship, and Bob’s clientele grew many times.

Today, the Model Car Garage boasts more than 400 different items, ranging from aluminum parts of the model cars that are machined to flocking to photo-etched detail sets.
